The following information came from the Westford Police Department.
Jan. 1, 2:45 p.m. – While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a home on Tyler Road for a past larceny. The officer was told that a box of checks had been stolen from mailbox in the past week.
The checks were supposed to be delivered, but the homeowner had discovered the box nearby on a snowbank a few hundred feet away on Vineyard Road, already opened.
The homeowner had been away for several days, so it was possible that the delivery of the check box occurred several days prior.
Before calling the police, the homeowner had put a freeze on their account and discovered no unusual activity had been made.
No evidence was found near the box that indicated who might have taken the box, if anyone. The officer talked to people in the area to see if they had seen anything suspicious.
None of the people living nearby said they had seen anything suspicious. However, one said there had been issues with postal service in the past and another said that their mailbox had incurred damage.
Jan. 2, 9:11 a.m. – A landlord requested legal advice regarding a tenant who she believes has a vendetta against her for no apparent reason.
The landlord says she rents out three rooms in a house to tenants, none of which have a lease agreement.
In June, the landlord lost a court case against the vindictive tenant, and the vindictive tenant was awarded $1,850. After this, the tenant began to file several complaints.
According to the report, the woman told police that the tenant’s pickup truck had also damaged her driveway.
She also indicated to police that three of her e-mail accounts were recently hacked, her Northern Bank account had been cleaned out remotely and that four separate tires were damaged or punctured since the court date.
Another tenant also indicated that they had witnessed the tenant enter the basement at the same time the water heater began to leak unexpectedly, even though he was not authorized to enter the basement.
In addition, she said the tenant said he sustained an unwitnessed fall on the property and was suing the home owner’s insurance company for $10,000.
She did not want to escalate the situation and had begun to evict the tenant, but asked for advice on how to proceed. She did not want the officer to talk to the tenant for fear of additional conflict.
The officer recommended putting surveillance cameras on her vehicle and to serve the tenant with a no trespassing order in areas where the woman did not want the man to go inside the house.
Jan. 6, 11:48 p.m. – Two officers were dispatched to Abbot Mills after a resident believed her neighbor was jamming her phone and internet.
The resident indicated that the walls at Abbot Mills are very thin and she has been having noise issues with her neighbor for approximately two years.
To this end, the resident believes the neighbor can hear when the resident is home and is using a device to remotely turn off her television and phone.
The officer recommended that the resident call her cable, internet and phone companies to further investigate the matter, but the resident said she was moving out at the end of the month and she just wanted the matter documented.
