The compelling mental health issues facing local teens today will be the topic of discussion at the Stony Brook School, June 14, 7 to 9 p.m.
“Saving Our Teens: Crisis Mental Health and the Next Generation” will highlight the challenges facing today’s adolescents by experts who are at eye-level with the issues.
Pressures facing the region’s young people today are raising concerns. Between anxiety over grades and college admissions, the prospects of six-figure debt by graduation, increasing fears of school shootings, substance abuse and bullying, today’s teens are living with unprecedented levels of stress.
A powerhouse panel of experts will discuss challenges that are unique to the adolescents of today. This forum is for anyone who would like to get an up-to-the-minute snapshot of mental health issues affecting our region’s youths and how to help.
Are today’s young people at greater risk of anxiety and depression? How do these concerns manifest themselves? Should caring adults and health professionals be on the lookout for subtle warning signs? Residents are invited to learn what’s really going on with teens, and discover positive responses to help them navigate the rough waters of adolescence.
This FREE forum is presented by the Upper Merrimack Valley Medical Reserve Corps and the Westford Health Department. All are welcome; especially emergency responders, teachers, counselors, youth advocates, and concerned residents.
