Westford Community Access TV has AV equipment that residents can borrow to record events and activities. There are a couple things you need to do before taking the equipment home for a few days. With a little planning, you’ll be ready to capture the moments of a school play, sporting event, scout outing or festival day. on a professional HD JVC Camcorder.
Step 1. Membership
The first step is easy. Fill out this online membership form and in a couple minutes you’re on to step two. There are no member fees for Westford residents who subscribe to either cable service in town for membership nor for borrowing equipment. Non-subscribers and out-of-town residents pay a small annual membership fee. Membership is also open to businesses, clubs and organizations.
Step 2. Classes
Next (or anytime, it doesn’t need to be in order) you’ll need to attend an orientation class (90 minutes) and camera training class (2 hours). These and other classes are scheduled regularly. If you don’t see one coming up soon enough, you can always schedule an individual training session with staff members. We’re happy to help you get up and running, creating amazing videos!
Step 3. Reserve Equipment
Once you’ve taken the classes you’re welcome to take-out the equipment. We give you everything you’ll need to record a high quality video including audio inputs, headphones, SD cards, extra batteries and tripod.
Ultimately, we want to be able to share your recordings on our TV channels and through social media starting on our YouTube channel. Once you’ve captured the video you want, we’ll help you get started with the editing. There are both Macs and PCs with the editing software available for you to work on… more on that in another post. Because, undoubtedly, you’ll want to share your work, too!
